Death Note

Perhaps our topic this time sounds very scary or even terrifying, but for me personally, the topic this time is quite or even very current with the conditions and time.
Many people among us or even our own, that when asked about their opinions about death and how to prepare them to face death, will answer that they are overwhelmed with fear that a very large and that they are also in conditions that are not ready to face death. There is a reason that all the life they have lived is still not enough as the provision to them accountable to God. They feel that the good they have done during life is still not enough. There is also the reason that they are afraid to leave their lives in this world are very prosperous and happy in the material. Read the rest of this entry »

Pope calls UK back to Christian roots in light of ‘more aggressive’ secularism

Edinburgh, United Kingdom, Sep 16, 2010 / 07:42 am (CNA/EWTN News).-   Benedict XVI has called the UK to draw from it’s “Christian foundation” as it addresses the challenges of the modern day. He hoped that society would continue to respect the traditional values and cultural expressions which are no longer valued or tolerated by “more aggressive forms of secularism.”

The Pope arrived to the Queen’s Edinburgh residence, the Palace of Holyroodhouse, to festive traditional bagpipe music on the first morning of his UK visit. In his first official address of the four-day tour, the Holy Father spoke to members of the monarchy and the Scottish parliament, and even briefly to British media, about working for the good of society.

Where is Your God? Responding to the Challenge of Unbelief and Religious Indifference Today

re-post from http://www.catholicnewsagency.com/resource.php?n=2

Concluding Document of the Plenary Assembly
Where is Your God?

Responding to the Challenge of Unbelief and Religious Indifference Today

Introduction

1. The Christian Faith at the dawn of the new millennium is faced with the challenge of unbelief and religious indifference.  The Second Vatican Council, already forty years ago, delivered this observation: “Many of our contemporaries have never recognized the intimate and vital link with God, or have even explicitly rejected it.  Atheism must therefore be counted among the most serious problems of our time and must be submitted to closer examination” (Gaudium et Spes , n.19).

To this end, Pope Paul VI created in 1965 the Secretariat for Non-believers and entrusted it to the direction of Cardinal Franz König.  In 1980 Pope John Paul II called on me to succeed Cardinal König and also asked me to create the Pontifical Council for Culture, which he would unite to the Secretariat in 1993, after it had become the Pontifical Council for Dialogue with Non-believers.  His motivation, given in the Apostolic Letter motu proprio, Inde a Pontificatus, is clear: “to promote the meeting of the saving message of the Gospel with the cultures of our times, often marked by unbelief and religious indifference” (art. 1) and to promote at the same time “the study of the problem of unbelief and of religious indifference found in various forms in different cultural milieus, enquiring into the causes and the consequences for the Christian Faith” (art. 2).
